Last night while attending the Society of Women Engineers meeting at BuildIt Workspace – Yes, I crashed that event! 😉 – my engineering ignorance came to mind: Designing tags will be so easy. NOT!
Not all adhesives stick. Not all paint covers. Prototype templates need designing. Measurements must be calculated, chemicals must be measured.  Let’s not forget other details: choosing a clean font, designing showroom displays, setting up Etsy links, and pricing.
For the Love of Pete … Designing tags had me feeling like a bull in a china shop, not able to move from Point A to Point B without breaking something, starting over, or throwing things across the room. Why was this so difficult?
At some point Oprah comes to mind. Why can I remember her 2002 conversation with Nelson Mandela about building her girl’s school? Anyway, thankfully I remembered her saying, Love is in the details.
Details, the important, time-consuming steps toward success. I discovered they can also be distraction to success. So, if you’re feeling overwhelmed by little details, take a break. Breath. Make an attitude adjustment. Then get back on track, focus, and keep moving ahead.
Thrive. One stroke, one pedal, one step at a time.
