Moved into another training week with my nephew, Joel, asking if training included running trails. Nope. I’m pretty structured. Stick with the plan and only run on the road.
Then I thought, hey, let’s mix it up. Be adventurous. Get out of the routine.
See new sites.
So Sunday I ran through Peter’s Canyon.
Loved it.
Thanks Joel for the inspiration.
Then Tuesday I ran along Seal Beach. Loved the ocean backdrop, the sound of waves, and discovered Seal Beach has an abundance of coral trees.
The trees with red and orange flowers line the streets, giving it a beauty similar to the jacarandas’ in Long Beach. Just the same, they cover the sidewalks with the beauty of jewel tone flowers that have hazardous waxy petals. So watch out if you run on the sidewalk. Don’t slip and fall.
Unknowingly my adventurous spirit extended to Brick Training. Though at first I was only trying to be logical, then I wondered … am I brilliant or crazy?? You see, pain hit my knees during the ride so before the run I covered them with Icy Hot. Since they are pain free, the idea does seem brilliant, still watch the video to see the whole story.
Afterwards, to help recover I experimented and discovered a killer protein shake recipe. Some friends thought this idea was completely nuts. What do they know … Nothing!!!
Here’s the secret scoop: Use balsamic reduction to kick up the flavor. If you feel just as adventurous, give it a try. Simply blend the following:
- One packet of Hammer Recoverite (orange-vanilla)
- One banana
- About six fresh strawberries
- One scoop of vanilla yogurt
- One cup of almond milk
- Two splashes of enfuso Orange-Guava balsamic
- Three ice cubes
Always tri. Never stop.
