Shuttle Time

Yesterday I cheered on the Space Shuttle flyby at Seal Beach. I almost missed that opportunity, briefly thinking the 90 minute distraction would be a waste of time. So glad I didn’t listen to that negative talk.

Space Shuttle over HollywoodThe best part was hanging out with other Americans. We were connecting and talking and comparing notes regarding which direction it was flying. We were smiling, happy and proud. Proud of our achievements. It’s so nice to be around positive people.

It got me thinking of John Winthrop’s “City Upon a Hill”, We must delight in each other; make others’ conditions our own; rejoice together, mourn together, labor and suffer together, always having before our eyes our commission and community in the work, as members of the same body.

Wouldn’t it be great to seek moments like that everyday?
I’m open to them. Are you?
