Introspection

Tuesday was a great day.  I committed to racing Ironman Austin, and then met with a business leader to discuss the CSR process.

This morning at 5 a.m., a mental battle began – I didn’t want to get out of bed to train.  During the mental volley I realized committing to Ironman is similar to business leaders committing to CSR.  The heart is in the right place but the mind questions its lIntrospectionogic.

How do you sync the mind and the heart to transform a body into an elite athlete or a company into a community leader?

It’s daunting process, and it begins with introspection into mind, body, and spirit.

In business, the mind is management.  The body includes your communities (clients, suppliers, employees, etc.).  The spirit is your brand.

Business introspection includes writing a vision statement and surveying your communities.  Then face reality; does your vision statement sync with how your communities feel about your brand? Then take that realty, that insight and jump in.

Later I’ll write about “jumping In”.  For now have faith in your transformation.  It’s a one-step-at-a-time process.  You’ve made the commitment so get out of bed, put on running shoes, walk out the door and face the day.
