Where Are The Green Consumers?

Here’s the focus: Creating more efficient, effective, innovative and sustainable companies.  So this morning I was excited to read FastCompany’s article on green consumers, The Uneven Geography Of Consumers Who Will Buy A Green Product. Could this tidbit of proof help corporate leaders embrace CSR? … Well, kind of.

50% of shoppers are now willing to spend more with brands

Green ConsumersThe article started off with great news; “50% of shoppers are now willing to spend more with brands “that have implemented programs to give back to society.” That’s a 5% increase from 2011.”

Plus, citizen expectations with CSR could be a deciding factor for embracing green.

The article is great for global companies, especially those in Europe or Asia.  Consumers in Belgium, Russia, Croatia and Finland will pay less for green products.  However, people living in Philippines, Thailand, and Indonesia will pay more.

Ironically, the article’s conclusion was negative.  It stiffened the case for improved CSR data because the survey didn’t define how “people behave at the “moment of truth.”

Are Green Consumers Healthier Than Most?

Just wondering.  Are Asians more included to buy green products because they’re healthier?  Don’t they live longer than most people?  Are they more inclined to be a vegetarian? Or are those assumptions and stereotypes?

Off to Google to research “healthy food +  Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia”.
First result: “Dog Meet – Wikipedia”.

Hummm.  That’s not what I expected.  Back to the drawing board.
The take away: You are what you eat (smile).
    Keep trying.
